Donabes are used for cooking countless dishes throughout Japan — and they're also one of Marie's favorite ways to prepare a delicious dinner for her family! Traditionally made from clay, donabes hold heat longer than other cooking vessels, resulting in a more consistent texture and flavorful dish. This donabe, called a hagama, is made specifically for steaming rice. Once prepared, it can be carried from the stove and placed in the center of the table as a beautiful serving vessel. After tasting the resulting grains, you might never use an electric rice cooker again!
